Network Access Device – Power over Ethernet (PoE) Support
As availability of devices supporting power of Ethernet becomes more ubiquitous the base configuration of data electronics TD specifies and installs will increasingly become capable of delivering Power over Ethernet (PoE). Customers are advised that typical installations that use base configuration equipment, and that are *not* specified with the capability to support PoE on every port will have PoE features disabled by default. PoE in these scenarios will be disabled on all ports, and will be reserved for use by central services, such as wireless access points, security, etc.
Customers who require PoE for data ports must work with the TD PMO to request and fund additional capability for PoE to be provisioned. The additional work may require either an upgrade to existing equipment where applicable, or replacement equipment capable of supporting full PoE. Support for full PoE requires a site evaluation, design of power and cooling, and potentially the purchase of additional components. Where required, the costs for additional power, cooling and facility will be borne by the customer.
Please contact the PMO (email@example.com) with any questions regarding PoE requirements.
